On March 30, the Chamber wrote a letter to Premier John Horgan requesting that the province:

* Provide business and residential property owners the ability to apply for a deferral of property taxes until Sept. 30, 2020;

* Provide business and residential property owners the ability to apply for a deferral of local government utility service payments until Sept. 30, 2020;

* Support municipalities, regional districts and other local agencies in their ability to provide services until Sept. 30, 2020.

The Chamber had also requested that the City of Vernon temporarily waive the collection of parking meter fees to support businesses who are providing takeout services.

On March 31, members of Vernon council voted to suspend bylaw enforcement for metered parking until April 27, when council will revisit the matter. Parking enforcement for safety reasons will continue.

The Chamber thanks Vernon city council and administration for their support of business owners.
